JEN HANSEN The Blog. The latest on our efforts to end trafficking, Jen's picks for the season, how she'd style each collection, and so much more. #LOVEGIVINGFREEDOM
Today I'm focused on the heart of our company: freedom. Our mission is to free 1 million people from human trafficking across the globe and prevent millions more from being enslaved. Right now, we are at $24,000 of our $30,000 goal to build a school in Nicaragua in buildOn to keep children safe from traffickers. We're in the home stretch and couldn't be more excited for what 2018 will bring. Every purchase brings us one step closer. I'd like to end with a reflective question for the holidays: how are you giving this season? Email us a few words on this to email@example.com to be included in a future blog post on giving. Sending love and blessings for a holiday season filled with giving from the heart!
A few words, from our Team JEN HANSEN hearts, to yours, on what we're THANKFUL for this year:
Congrats to Connecticut on being the first state to pass a law to require hotel employee training! Employees learn about sex and labor trafficking, the legal responsibilities of lodging establishments, and practical tools for identifying signs of sex and labor trafficking. They also learn how to deter traffickers, report suspected crimes, and help victims connect with services.

LOOK THREE - AFTER PARTY
The JEN HANSEN spring collection is now available and the designs have us all styling our wardrobe to match! We had to share the pieces Jen is currently loving and her go-to outfit to carry her into the season.
For us, spring welcomes a hopeful transition into warmer months and the new items reflect this energy.
Wear the jewelry together or style separately to elevate any look.
These neutral styles can be dressed up or down easily. Pair a silky white blouse with dramatic earrings for a girl's night out or opt for a casual take by adding a colorful ring - both great for spring & summer!
On March 9th, International Justice Mission successfully rescued three young girls from sex trafficking. Their story could have ended much differently, but with the efforts of IJM, the girls are now on a path to restored freedom. Stories like these drive our purpose of giving freedom and donating to IJM and we are grateful to share these with all of you.

We all could use a few more positive vibes right about now! To spread the love, here are Jen's favorite self care go tos and how she cares for others. We love Jen's list and are already incorporating it into our routines to power us into spring. Hope you enjoy it!

Jen's Self Care Go Tos
Teas - Tea is a great way to start your day or unwind after a hectic schedule. Jen treats herself to a mug of quality tea bringing much needed warmth and relaxation to the colder months. "I typically purchase all of my teas from The Tea Embassy in Austin. My favorites are their Women's Tea, Matcha and Blueberry Rooibos. I like them for different reasons and think they are all delicious."
Essential Oils - "If you come to my home, you will see, I always have my diffuser going! The essential oils I gravitate towards are Doterra's Lavender, Peace, Balance & Serenity - all so calming."
Jen adds a few dabs to her wrists, her pillow before bed, a hot bath or diffuses them. Essential oils are a great way to boost positive vibes in your environment and they smell great too!
Total Body Wellness - A large part of self care for Jen is body wellness: taking care of the body you have been given. "I LOVE my infrared sauna and the benefits it provides. Between the circulation, toxin elimination, reduced inflammation and relaxation, it is a game changer. Same with cryotherapy sessions - when I am in LA, I make a point to get there. Although it is so cold, when you leave cryotherapy you feel so revived and energized!"
Making a point to move your body can be the last thing you want to do in winter, but Jen always makes time to go for a hike and take in the outdoors. It's not only great for exercise, but for collecting her thoughts before or after the work day.
Laughter - We don't need convincing that spending time laughing with our girlfriends is THE best mood booster, but we know we need to do more of it! Jen is a true believer that a few laughs with friends is exactly what you need to brighten your week.
"When work gets busy, it can be difficult but you have to make time for fun with the ones you love. It will bring you joy and remind you of all you have to be thankful for in your life. And when I need a quick laugh, America's Funniest Home Videos never fails!"
Positive Intention Setting - "I believe in setting aside time for meditation, reading and prayer each day. It helps me stay heart centered and focused on what truly matters. Each morning I set a positive intention for myself and my loved ones for the day." When you choose to start the day on a positive note, you set yourself up for a better day and those around you will feel that too.
Retreating to Water - For Jen, when it comes to true peace and clarity, you will find her near water. The calming effect of an ocean or lake is something she has always been drawn to and is the inspiration for much of her designs.
Jen's Tips for Caring for Others
Phone calls - In the era of constant text messages and emails, it's truly important for Jen to pick up the phone and call her friends and loved ones. Hearing someone's voice makes such an impact! It can be the difference in making an okay day into an amazing one. Even if it is just a quick "Hi, how are you?" - your loved ones near and far want to hear from you.
"Since I am often traveling, I don't see the people I care about for weeks at a time, checking in and making sure they are doing well is important. I want them to know I am here for support and always sending them love."
Friend dates - Too often we get stuck in our daily routines or we find ourselves hibernating at home (looking at you Midwest & East Coast girls!) but scheduling lunches, dinner dates and brunches with our friends makes all of the hard work worth it!
"I love spending time with my friends catching up over a meal and rosé. We all get busy but getting together is good for everyone!" We all need to connect and feel like we are a part of a bigger community. Our girls, our sisters and our friends are our tribe and there are few things better than time spent together!
Gifting jewelry - Receiving a piece of jewelry is a welcomed surprise since we don't always treat ourselves to something new. There is something that feels truly special about surprising a dear friend with an unexpected gift. Jen loves the Ball and Tassel Earring right now - as it can be dressed up or down and is great for friends of all ages. Who wouldn't feel a little extra love with a gift like that?
Treating everyone like family-Treating people who come into your life or visit your home like family is a small gesture that goes far. By spreading more kindness and love, we will all benefit from the positive energy. As a part of the JEN HANSEN team, we know how genuine and gracious Jen is when you are in her company. She always recommends treating everyone with a giving spirit and love.
LOL LOL LOL Texts - Jen loves sending and receiving texts with funny images, gifs, or quotes with friends. Having a good laugh when you really need it can pivot a rough day into a great one. You always know someone who is in need of cheering up. Reaching out with something like this is a day maker for everyone. That's the power of comedy.
Our most precious human right is freedom, it allows us to live as we were destined and designed. Unfortunately, millions are enslaved globally and this human right is only a dream. January marks Human Trafficking Awareness Month, an opportunity for me to share why I choose to give towards ending slavery and renewing freedom.
There are millions of slaves globally. The vast majority of victims of trafficking live below the poverty line, as the women and children in these environments are the most vulnerable. Those living in the darkest of situations need a voice in order to be given back their light. I donate to International Justice Mission's efforts to provide freedom and care to victims because it brings us closer to a world without slavery. In the fight to end human trafficking, my hope is to reach the vulnerable, rescue the victim and restore the survivor.
In writing this, I couldn't help but think of my heart and all of our hearts. One of our brand's core values is being heart centered. We are rooted and grounded in love. We live in relationship. We care for others, ourselves, and the world and offer healing from the heart.
True freedom begins in the heart, which mirrors how each piece of JEN HANSEN is designed. I hope that our jewelry not only enhances a woman's natural beauty, but that it hits her at a deeper level: I hope it encourages her to find her strength, voice and freedom, so that she may live out her dreams and purpose. I feel so fortunate to be able to channel my passion for jewelry into my purpose, because it takes each of us to make a difference in advancing the cause of freedom. Each piece of jewelry sold adds up and increases the support we are able to give organizations working to end human trafficking.
In honor of Human Trafficking Awareness Month, you will receive one of our signature stretchie bracelets as a gift with each purchase through the end of January. In wearing these, we are all united in the fight to give freedom and end trafficking in all forms.
Tis the season of giving! Here are Jen's gift picks to guide you. She has hand selected jewelry at all price points for the people you love most: mom, daughter sister, friend and your love. We love her holiday selections and are so excited to share them with you!

We love giving freedom even more than we love giving jewelry. Our founder and designer, Jen, has been the guiding light behind our brand's purpose of giving freedom and goal to rescue and prevent millions from human and sex trafficking. In order to make these efforts a reality, we strategically select, highlight, and donate to organizations that are constantly making strides towards a world without slavery.
It is only fitting that along with celebrating Giving Tuesday, we highlight the organizations we support. Currently we are contributing to these outstanding change makers:
International Justice Mission - Focuses on protecting poor people from violence in the developing world. IJM has rescued more than 25,000 people throughout the world and the work the organization does daily protects 21 million people from violence and trauma, providing freedom to those suffering. Click here to visit IJM's site.
buildOn - Empowers youth in the US to make a difference through transforming their neighborhoods and community through valiant service. Additionally, buildOn constructs a new school every 3 days in the poorest of countries, helping to bring children into a life of freedom and opportunity. Click here to visit buildOn's site.
We are so motivated by the work of these organizations; the proof of their efforts is evident! IJM's work in rescue missions is critical in the fight to end slavery, making this a charity strongly loved by Jen. Additionally, the preventative work done by buildOn - to keep children from a path of slavery - inspires Jen and our team to contribute to them.
Please take a moment and get to know these charities we love so dearly because giving is truly what defines JEN HANSEN. In Jen's words, "giving is true luxury".
